Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng set excellent record during pre-season tour in Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur៖ Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng had a pre-season tour to remember in Malaysia after beating three Malaysia Super League sides as it should be a great preparation for their AFC Cup play-off against Master 7 of Laos later this month.
The champions of Cambodia began their pre-season tour in Malaysia with a bang as they thrashed Selangor FA 4-0 on January 9. Marie Privat opened the scoring to put the Svay Rieng side in front after three minutes. Ten minutes later, Prak Mony Udom made it 2-0 before Sareth Krya and Hoy Phallin struck late in the first half to secure a massive 4-0 win for Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng.
Two days later, Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng faced another Malaysia Super League side Felda United. Felda United led 1-0 at half-time thanks to Megumi’s early strike, but two second-half goals from Prak Mony Udom and Hoy Phallin ensured another victory for Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng.
Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng made it three wins out of three as they recorded a remarkable victory over Terengganu. Conor Nestor’s side trailed by 3-1 at the break, while Marie Privat netted the only goal for them. However, a brace from Pedro Augusto and a further goal from Sok Samnang saw Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng ended their pre-season tour in Malaysia with a superb 4-1 win against Terengganu.
Conor Nestor is proud of his side and expects even better team performance following massive outcomes in Malaysia during their pre-season tour.
“We came to Malaysia for competitive and strong games, and we got that,” the Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng coach told camsports.org.
“Each side we played started with their strongest available players. They played good football, and they played physical football, and we overcame all obstacles. I’m proud of our team, but there are bigger days ahead for us.
“Last season, I believe the team was at 75% of its potential, and now I feel we are better than that. Reaching our full potential is the target, and what I know is we are working towards that.
“We want to test ourselves against the very best sides, and if we don’t meet that level now, then we will continue to work hard until we reach that level. I’m a lucky coach as my players never give up, and that’s all I can ask for.”
