Orn Chanpolin to captain the Red Singha this season
Phnom Penh៖ Orn Chanpolin will captain Phnom Penh Crown this season, Sum Vanna has confirmed, while Kok Boris is the vice captain.
The return of former Phnom Penh Crown captain Kok Boris has raised speculation over the Red Singha captaincy, but Sum Vanna has come out to kill the doubt.
The head coach of the Phnom Penh side said Orn Chanpolin will remain as the captain this season.
Sum Vanna told camsports.org: “Chanpolin is the captain, and Kok Boris will be the vice captain this season.“Chanpolin is the captain of Cambodia youth teams, and he is also our captain last season. With his experience, this season he will still be our captain.
“He will involve in our team preparation and tactic, and he has quality on the pitch too. His experience can help him to be more mature on the pitch, and he is a very responsible player.”
Phnom Penh Crown welcome Electricite Du Cambodge at the Smart RSN Stadium on February 15 in their opening Metfone Cambodian League match.
Sum Vanna targets nothing less than three points as he believes that a win over Electricite Du Cambodge will raise his team confidence for the next matches.
“Electricite Du Cambodge are a really good team, and for sure they play to win the game like we do. We play them at home, and with our hard work I think we have high hope to win three points.
“It’s always a great start to win three points, so we will do our best to achieve it. It can also boost our team performance and confidence.
“We have a good team preparation this season. We played a few international friendly matches, and we have shown our quality. Hopefully, it will be a good start for us this season.”
